Compassion-Focused Therapy 2026 Workshops
Two-Day Introductory Training (20 hours CPD)

This two-day introductory Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) workshop provides mental health practitioners with a strong theoretical and clinical foundation in CFT and its application in therapy. The training is grounded in contemporary research and trauma-informed principles, with a focus on understanding how compassion can be cultivated to support emotional regulation, reduce shame and self-criticism, and promote psychological flexibility.

The workshop includes two full days of live training (14 hours), supported by approximately 6 hours of pre-workshop readings and reflective activities, contributing to a total of 20 hours of CPD. Pre-workshop materials focus on key research developments and theoretical foundations of CFT, supporting participants to engage with current evidence and prepare for applied and experiential learning during the live sessions.

Across the two days, the workshop will explore the theoretical underpinnings of CFT, including the “tricky brain,” the three emotion regulation systems, and the role of attachment and early experiences in shaping threat-based responding. Participants will be introduced to compassion-focused formulation and learn how to share formulations with clients in ways that enhance self-understanding, reduce shame, and support the development of self-compassion.

The training is experiential, reflective, and clinically focused, incorporating theory, clinical examples, guided practices, and opportunities for discussion and integration into participants’ existing therapeutic approaches.
